Looks like I will be going to the 2nd round
I got three firsts with my Bohemian pilsner, American Pale Ale, and Belgian Specialty.

My RIS scored a 42  and did not place...

Congrats Cuda!

What did the Belgian specialty score? Mine got a 41 and did not place.. Yours must have been quite a bit higher than that! Now, that's the kinda category you want to judge if you're judging.. The Belgian categories have come a long way in the last 10 years..

I've got an IPA and a Porter moving on.. Not too bad!

My Belgian specialty got a 43, way to go on the Ipa and Porter.
what score did you get on your Ipa? My Ipa did not place with a 38.5

42. Re-brewed it for the 2nd round. Bittered it up a little more based on all of the scorsheets from various competitions.. Just sampled the first keg last night, but it's a little green yet to tell if it's better.
Cheers! Kippis! Skål! Prost!

I'm New to this forum. Been listening to BN for a while, and just joined the BN Army!
I was extremly thrilled when my Fruit Beer got 1st place in West AND I was above JZ & Tasty AND my score was higher than all other regions!
Sorry for the excitement. This is my first time to second round.
Does anyone have any tips on shippers to get my 3 bottles to Cinci?
PLEASE

1) Don't use the USPS - it's against the law. UPS or FedEx is fine.
2) Wrap each bottle individually with small bubble wrap. Use a minimum amount of cellophane tape to secure the bubble wrap.
3) Tape all the bottles together, again with a minimum amount of tape.
4) Put the bottles into a trash bag - just in case
5) Crumple some newspaper or some bubble wrap and place it in the bottom of the box. Put the bottles in. Continue to stuff paper or bubble wrap around the sides of the bottles. Don't use packing peanuts.
6) Jam some crumpled paper on top of the bottles and seal the box.
7) Give it a shake. If there is movement - try again.

Good luck!

A great list of proper steps. That last one is key. Pack the box TIGHT with paper or bubblewrap, so the bottles can't move when the box is dropped. If you do that and use packing material that has a lower crushing point than the bottles, all should be well.
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.
