Lagering on yeast or in plastic?

I know, its not fermentation, but I think its damn close!

I brewed up a dopplebock and fermented in glass carboys in garage, one insulated, one not. It is now time to lager it (in the garage). I can either transfer it to plastic buckets, OR leave it in the glass. I do not want to transfer it to plastic, then clean glass and put it back in. I would prefer to only transfer and clean once.

What can I expect with each choice? What would you do, and why?

do you keg?...if so put it in a keg and lager with that...if not I would say use the glass as the plastic buckets have some oxygen permeability and you have potential for oxidation

maybe a good excuse to buy some more glass carboys?

It all depends how long you are going to lager for, for both questions. If you are lagering for a month then on the yeast and in plastic just fine if you start pushing 3 months I would probably rack to glass or a keg as suggested

Beer was brewed just before new years. I expect to bottle (yes, I do still bottle, too poor/brew too much to keg) within a month or so. This uncooperative weather has me worried about just how effective lagering will be....

I will then leave it in the glass, on the yeast for a month or so. Too anxious to wait any longer, and since we do not have freezing temp here in ny, seems to not do much good?
