Adding Gelatin in Cornies

I try not to splash too much to get Gelatin in my kegs, but always seem to do it anyway. Is there a better method to get Gelatin in kegs with NO splashing? I have used a turkey baster in the past and I still seem to splash.

I open and dump without worry. There should be a CO2 blanket but if you are having some issues you think are from that you could purge another corny with CO2. Place gelatin in bottom of keg, after dissolving it in water, then rack the beer onto the gelatin. Too much work for me but if thats your thing go for it.

I actually dump it in the keg right before racking, so that the slow fill of the racking mixes it thoroughly. I use isinglass, but no reason it wouldn't work for gelatin.

Okay. I can do that. I have always just poured it on top of the new beer, but adding it first seems more logical.

Are you guys transferring after fining, or do you just leave it in the beer? If you fine in the keg, do you have to cut off the dip tube a bit more to leave the gunk in the bottom?

I still don't understand why people cut their diptubes.....pull off the first pint, and dump it....usually it is full of trub or geletin, or anything else that has dropped outta solution by the time it's sat there for a week carbing up. I have 15 cornies....and not a sindle cut diptube....never have had any problems yet!

I have two cornies with cut dip tubes that I use as bright tanks. I do 10 gallon batches, so I rack five gallons into each bright tank from the fermentor. I then chill the cornies in a chest freezer for a day or two at 32F so that any chill haze will form. I pop the tops off the bright tanks, pour in my gelatin mixture, re-cap, purge with CO2 and swirl it around, then it's back into the chest freezer for a few days. I rack into serving kegs mainly because I take my beer all over the place (parties, tailgating, etc.) and even though the beer would be clear if I didn't rack off the sediment, the sediment would get disturbed while moving the kegs and cloud the beer anyway.

how long do you guys wait from the day its cooked? a week? ive never kegged a beer before 3 months from birth.
