What could possibly go wrong?

Thu May 07, 2009 7:19 am

I have a honey cream lager (was suppose to be an ale, but I pitched the wrong yeast) and it fermented too high (8.4%).
My question is:
I was thinking of adding a can of cherries in a grain bag (like dry hopping) to the keg. What could go wrong if I do this? Should I just do this step in the secondary?

I would personally make the fruit a puree and put it secondary then rack on top of it.

Taste the beer before you add anything. No point in putting perfume on crap.

agreed. in my limited experience, i've learned to leave shit alone and stop adding random crap to beers because it sounds good. everytime i throw in some of this or that it usually ends up hurting the beer, simple is usually the way to go.

Add some cherries, some wood along with a WLP sour mix. Put it away for a year in a cool dark place and see what happens..keep us posted. :jnj

Well it has been months since I added the oak and cherries. Just tasted it and then dicsided that the sink looked very thristy. JZ was right, if the beer sucks to begin with it does not matter what you add to it....it will still suck. This is my first offically dumped beer out of 40 batches.
