[Homegrown Hops]

Hey, I am making the trek to the city (SF) this coming weekend and plan to hit at least 9 breweries in the process. Heres the line-up.

Russian River
Moylans
Marin
Beach Chalet
21st Amendment
Magnolia
E.J Phair
Triple Rock
Bear Republic

I will also be picking up my order at B3 (the real reason for the trip). It should be an interesting trip, its too bad that Drakes is in San Leandro but I can hit them next trip.

[Homegrown Hops]

Wow what a trip. I was unable to stop at all the breweries I wanted to but it was a good time. I have to say that I tasted alot of good beer during the last three days but I have some memorable ones to share.

1) My first stop on the trip was Russian River and I was impressed. I had Deification to start since I hadnt had a brett beer and I want to brew one. Since I had to be selective my other choice was Pliny the Younger. This is barnone the best beer that I have ever had, the floral aroma was incredible and the flavor dead on, the malt bill balanced the obviously huge hops and this had remarkably smooth bittering for such a huge brew. All I can day is WOW.

2) Second stop and 2nd favorite brew also, go figure. I really like Moylans Kilt Lifter so we stop in Novato. I wanted to try anything that I hadnt had yet so I went with a cask Pale or something. The food and service was great and my next selection Whiskey Imperial Stout was equally pleasant. I want to experiment with some oak chips soaked in whisky on part of my next stout now.

3) Beach Chalets Doppleganger Double IPA .......my exact words "Its not Pliny the Younger but its a damn good brew" This brewery has one of , if not the best view of any I have ever seen. The atmosphere is slightly upscalish but "hey its the Bay area" The menu for both Beach and Park Chalet blew all the others that I visited off the map. I am a former chef myself and they were "serving up some serious vittles"

My stop at B3 was stellar also, I had pre-ordered and paid ahead of time so all I had to do was show up and load. I was at the shop maybe 10 minutes. I walked in and there stood the big scary dark headed man that quickly rolled out my order and I was gone. Perfect! Thanks to all the crew at B3 in Concord.

I have some more to add but its time for some rest.
