2007 Longshot Double IPA No-Release Release Party

Mon Feb 11, 2008 10:47 am

My sincere apologies and thanks to all those across the country that expressed their sorrow that my Double IPA recipe would not be produced by Samuel Adams until next year.

When Jim Koch and I discussed the hop shortage and we mutually agreed that it would be best to brew the beer next year instead of substituting hops, I asked him if there was any way I could get some of the beer from the pilot batch (10bbl) delivered out here to California. He basically responded, "it won't be easy, but yes....of course". He was right. It definitely wasn't easy. But it's going to happen. The beer shipped from Boston today and on Thursday, February 21st at 7PM, it will be on tap at my local alehouse, E. J Phair Brewing Co, 2151 Salvio St, Concord, CA.

Join us if you can. I'll be there along with the Brewcasters. I wish I could send a growler of this 9.5% hop-bomb to everyone in the BN Army.

Hats off to Sam Adams for shipping it to CA. Nice work!

Yet another reason I wish I lived in CA. That would be worth a road trip...

Damnit!!! I'm actually going to be in California on the 21st, but by then we'll have driven all over the state and be down in LA. We leave SF the 19th.

I'll be thinking of you and your beer... and I'll shed a little tear.
