Old Dominion Millennium Release (DC Area) FEB6

Sat Feb 02, 2008 7:14 am

Old Dominion Brewing Company is releaseing the 2008 Millennium barleywine on Feb6. This event will be held at old dominion brewpub in Ashburn VA. 7-10pm, come on out if you are in the area and enjoy a quality crafted bw. Notes of cottoncandy and warm alcohol (11.4ish) accentuate the full flavor of hard whole leaf EKG dryhopping.
Check it.

Has the quality been the same since AB bought them and fired the brewer, I have been curious. I loved the food at the brewery and their beer, hiding in the back of a commercial park.

Quality is in fact on the up and up. AB did not just fire the brewer though. Most of the changes that made the brewers upset enough to go were brought in by the new management that owns the majority of the company, not AB. ABs roll as of current is to push distro out further and if we are lucky make the process gentler on the beer. The new set of brewers, most of which are young and full of ideas, are realy pulling that place back together. Our new brewmaster Favio Garcia is realy cool about letting us have a big roll in the decision process regarding most of the production aspects of the brewery. Keep your eyes peeled for the Old Dominion renaissance. Currently at the pub we have an organic pale ale on the hand pump, and a coffee oatmeal stout on the nitro. This is just the start of our one offs.

Huh that contradicts what we heard on this thread last year.

Interesting to hear about things from another perspective.

(Not meaning to pick on you specifically just since I used to live out there I was curious about the whole change over)

Cheers

Oh i thought you were talking about the most recent brewmaster that left. The prior brewmaster was before my time. Ab comes around and checks things out every now and then, but they have not forced any changes that have affected the quality of the beer in anyway. The malt and hop situation is the real problem we and everyone else are dealing with right now. Hop subs and malt availibility are the key issues.
