Split Rock Resort Homebrew Competition - Newb Question

Tue Nov 06, 2007 12:01 pm

I've never entered a competition before and I'd like to enter two beers I've made recently into this competition: http://www.splitrockresort.com/beerfest ... tition.php

What I don't know is how many bottles to send. Am I supposed to send two bottles or just one? The site seems to be missing some information. Anyone know?

FWIW, this is the closest competition to me that I can find that corresponds to me having beers ready to send. And even then, one is going to still be a bit green with only a week and half of aging before I can bottle it. I'll keep that in mind when I get the scores.

So, what do you think? Two bottles or one? What's the norm for competitions?

It's strange that they don't let you know how many bottles to send. Most competitions are very specific. I didn't even see a number you could call...

I would think that 2 would be the minimum. One for the first round and one for best of show (if you get that far!)

Good luck!

Most comps want 3 bottles.

Thanks guys. I actually did a bit more searching and found a contact on the BJCP schedule. I am writing an email to the contact and I'll see where that gets me.

The "Bottle Identification Form" at the bottom of the page includes 4 bottle labels, so perhaps they want 4 bottles?

There is a phone number on the Judge Registration form 570-722-9111 so maybe that would be a good place to start.

The answer from Split Rock, in case anyone else was going to enter, was to send 2 or 3 bottles. Apparently it's up to me.
