GABF 2007 need some INFO

Tue Jul 17, 2007 11:30 am

okay so i'm looking at orbitz.com and looks like for a 3 night stay plus car plus airline tickets i'm looking at about 500 for 2 adults

is there any other online places like this that give great deals on all 3 ??

LET ME KNOW so i can look into this and book something ASAP before all the good hotels get full

PLUS if someone would/could let me know what hotels are right downtown by the convention center would help me a lot too so i can get something close

thanks

There is also this really cool thing called...

www.google.com

jk, mrs. h, but that is where I got the info where I stayed last year. You are going to fly instead of drive? That seems the expensive way to go to me.

well your kinda right...if we took our van at least we wouldn't have to get a rental car and wouldn't have to worry about flying

but is it gonna be cheaper to buy gas than to fly?!?!?
NOW THAT IS THE QUESTION!!!

1000 miles round trip, 20 mpg=50 gal @ $3.50/gal=$175 for two people.

Flying will run around $350/person round trip=$700 + rental car/gas. Plus flying Salina-->KC-->Denver takes about 6 hours, wouldn't save much time over driving.

Unless there are direct flights out of Salina to Denver now, which could be cheaper.

All of these hotels are within stumbling distance! None of them are "Economy" lodging but avoiding a DUI is priceless and you are gonna be hammered!

i'm not going to be hammered....i'm going there to drink soda/pop whatever you all call it in your own lil world.. so i'm going as designated driver or whatever you call it...tickets are cheaper too :)

AND me and mr h have decided to get a rent a car from here in town instead of driving our own and we were going to get a *insert*(small type of car here that mr h knows that i forgot) its going to get like 37 miles per gallon or osmething like that...so it'd be better on gas and even with the rent a car... it'd still be half the price of flying so i think that is what we have decided we'll leave here wednesday and come back home on sunday since both me and mr h have to work that monday

and either this week or next week me and mr h should be able to buy hotel room :)

i know mr h would be bummed if i could not go this year but i already told him if its not possible he's on his own again and he can go without me but its not going to be too much more for me to go anyways..

You dont need a rental car in downtown Denver. Take a shuttle from the airport and use the Denver buses/trains or just walk everywhere. It's not that big of a place really.
