Of the above brewerys mentioned as destinations, all of the denver/metro spots are pretty onpoint. I'd add that the Breck Brewery is a great place to go -- good beer, nice atmosphere, spacious, and right smack in the middle of everything else (crawling distance to fallingrock, flyingdog, etc).
As for just on the outskirts of denver... Mountain Sun/Southern Sun (in boulder) was mentioned -- this place kicks ass and there IPA's are real nice. The food is also good, and the charaters who work there/freequent the pretty cool too.
MUST HIT destination just outside of denver (only 15 minutes) is the Golden City Berewery!!! Stop by this place in the afternoon -- you can grab a pitcher and kick it outside in their yard. The brewer is in the middle of the neighborhood with a super chill vibe.
Well worth the trip (the BN crew seems to be making it a point to spend the day there on thursday). If anyone has intentions of going and wants to know how to get there (it's kinda hard to find if you don't know), hit me up via pm.
