Attn Michigan Homebrewers: The 2010 Michigan Beer Cup!

Tue Jun 08, 2010 2:43 pm

Hey Michigan brewers,

Fire up those kettles and get brewing! The Michigan Beer Cup (formerly the Michigan State Fair) competition is coming up this August. This is our first year as an independent competition and would love to continue to grow. The MSF routinely brought in 700+ entries, and we would like to set the bar even higher!

This competition is open to Michigan homebrewers only. There will be drop off locations throughout the state, and it is a very affordable competition. The first 3 entries are $13 total, and each additional entry is $3. The drop off window is July 16th - 25th.

The Michigan Beer Cup award ceremony will be held at the First Annual Michigan Homebrew Festival. This festival has been created to unite Michigan homebrew clubs, and celebrate homebrew and craft beer, which makes it a perfect venue for the awards.

The Michigan Homebrew Festival will be held the weekend of August 21, 2010 at the Groveland Oaks campground, in Holly Michigan. Although this is a day event, camping is encouraged and 20 sites have been reserved on a private circle. These sites will be held for home brew clubs who are interested in participating and have a presence on site. Having a site on the circle will give your club a home base where your members can congregate and serve club beers, hang banners, promote your club.

This is a great opportunity for constructive feedback on your brews. We are working hard to establish a judging base that's main objective is a quality and informative scoresheet. If you are interested in judging or stewarding please contact me via pm, as I am serving as judge organizer for the event.

Mills,

I am new to homebrewing and have not entered a competition before. This sounds like a great first try.

I am also a new import to Michigan and live in Emmet County now where I have not been able to locate a homebrew club. It says you are in Northern Michigan. I was wondering if you could show me what's up and get the proverbial lay of the land.

Thanks,
Mike

This should be an excellent event! Is anyone staying at the campground for some good old fashioned asshattery? :asshat: :nutters: :asshat: They rent 4 and 6 person cabins for a reasonable price, in case anyone was interested in a BN Army barracks...
