For those of you with HD TVs and cable, there is a new show starting called "Beer Nutz" It's described as:

"Follow two intrepid hosts as they cross the country to visit some of America’s beer capitals. Join them as they search out the top micro and boutique breweries, always on the lookout for the local Beer Nutz who know where to find the best pubs and the best beers. Along the way Kirt and Eric dig deep into the history, traditions, and customs of these cities and their breweries."

Not about home brewing but seems like it will be a great way to see some great breweries in HiDef.

On Cox cable (I believe different carriers will have different broadcast schedules) this show premiers on Sunday. Of course, I recommend that you either tape this show or watch the rebroadcast on Wednesday nights!

From their schedule:

they look like they already have all of the episodes in the can. It would be nice to know if they are coming to the area so you can "pack the pub" with beautiful people.

I've had the "thirsty traveler" on my tivo list for awhile. the show does a nice job of walking you through the process and they always show a little of the local culture that affects the product they are producing. very interesting and worth a viewing. the show is on the travel channel and the host is a drunk at heart.

I watched 3 episodes of BeerNutz last night.

They go to some good places and there's some interesting conversations. But the hosts don't seem to know much about beer and their rating system is pretty much useless.

Thirsty Traveler can be hit or miss, but I prefer it to BeerNutz. The Germany and Ireland ones were awesome.

Even though it's about food, Anthony Bourdain's No Reservation would be my favorite. There's usually more drinking in his shows than the two above and he's hillarious.

Even Rachel Ray has had a few brewery/bar tours including ommegang and some places in colorado and the PNW.

The hosts are definitely quite a bit short on beer and brewing knowledge, and it clearly shows. Even the graphics they sometimes throw up with descriptions/definitions of beer terms aren't really that accurate.

Did you see the homebrewer from Vermont starting the siphon to rack his beer to secondary with his mouth? Then later when he's putting the airlock on the carboy, he mentions how it's so that no germs get in but air can get out.

The hosts are pretty lame. They seem like a couple frat boys who turned their senior project into a TV show. They do visit some interesting places though.

top micro and boutique breweries

"Boutique breweries"?!?! Does this show even have a clue as to how effortlessly they've emasculated any brewing establishment by calling it a "boutique brewery"? WTF is that? :?
