Not this year... the wife and I went a couple years ago for our anniversary. It was great... if you get the chance, take a day trip to Andechs. Great monastery... great beer. They have this one beer garden looking out into a valley... I wish every day could be like that.

Yup!! My wife and I will be there on the 25th and 26th, staying the night about an hour south in Garmisch. Of course, we live in Heidelberg, so it's just a hop, skip and a jump over to Munchen. We were ther last year (our first year in Germany), and it was GREAT!!! :jnj

Cool beans. I'll be around then, just look for the big American dork with the BN shirt and it might be me.

I will be there starting this Saturday (Ozapft is Openig ceremony) and only leave two weeks later :-)))))
For the Americans coming over the first time, here is the list of the hottest tents:

1. For the traditionalist: Augustiner Beer Tent: Beer still served from wooden barrels and the oldest brewery in town
2. For the young party folks: Hacker Pschorr Tent or the Schottenhammel: Young, extremely crazy party crowd. Those tents are just insane and you need to be capable of touching a lot of people
3. For the gay folks: Bräurosl, also a great party, 70% males 30% females in the tent. 'nough said!
4. For the fancy folks: Käfer Wiesnschenke, the "High Society" of Munich hangs out there too, looks like a wooden ski-cabin, decadent parties
5. For the ones who wanna see Münchner Dirndls: Armbrustschützenzelt
6. For the after-party and if you have had enough beer: Weinzelt (fancy, crazy parties, wine and Weißbier is being served)
7. For the folks who wanna sit in the beergarden in front of the tent: Paulaner

Auf eine friedliche Wiesn 2008.

Prost,
Daniela
