We have used that program the past 2 years. Very simple to set up and all the hosting is done on Al Boyce's server. All you have to do is add a link on your website to your unique competition link. You dont have to install any sort of program.

Don't we know a guy running for an AHA position?

Thanks, Pollo - that's exactly the kind of info that I'm looking for...

I'm an hour into trying to install Brew Competition Online Entry (http://competition.brewblogger.net/inde ... ge=install)

So far, not too much is working. My hosting company sucks, and the BCOE instructions need some updating (they refer to filenames that don't exist). Will keep you posted.

So, through no (or very little) fault of my own or the software developers, I spent 4 hours today trying to set up competition software, and have no results. Nothing works right at my hosting company. They're trying to fix my site, and I'll try again tomorrow. Those of you who are uncomfortable with dealing with online databases might want to stick with BeerContest DB (which you don't need to host yourself), though the developer has not responded to my inquiries yet...

Hello everyone, I just found this thread and thought I'd respond (forgive me for the very tardy reply - I hope I'm not too late).

I'm the developer of Brew Competition Online Entry (BCOE) and I think I can help you, Junket. I've just begun offering a hosting option for those like you who don't wish to go through the headache of setting up the software on your own server.

Go to http://www.brewcompetition.com/index.php?page=hosting for more information and to sign up. A subscription is $20 per year to offset bandwidth costs.

Thanks,

Geoff Humphrey

Hey, Geoff. The hosting is a great idea for clubs who don't have a member who is able/willing to set it up on their own server.

You might want to know that I researched the available software options and eventually opted for yours. Still ironing out some details, but we're up and running. You can see the results at:
http://scubabrewclub.com/njsfcomp.html

I'm the guy who has been submitting the latest round of "suggestions/bugs" on the google site. Thanks so much for your quick responses and fixes (though I still can't figure out why we are getting the export problem).

We decided to go with your software for many reasons:
able to host (and therefore modify) it ourselves
always like to use a product that is in active development
easy exporting
integration with HCCP
overall had the most current and professional look/feel

Great to see you here on the BN forum, and thanks for such contibuting such a necessary tool to homebrew clubs. Hope you don't mind my amateurish hacks to the software.
