I just mailed in 8 beers this past friday. I think I sent all english ales except for an APA, all jamil's recipes of course.

After some less that stellar results for my Brown Porter and Saison (World Cup of Beer - Berkley), I have weeded down my entries to the following:

German Pils
Schwarzbier
American IPA
Imperial IPA

It is amazing how my two IPA taste exactly the same (tweener beer, entered in both categories).

Good luck to all who enter, and to Tasty for heading up this event (West Region).

Take care,

Bohemian Pilsner
Southern English Brown
American Brown
IPA
Belgian Blonde
Belgian Golden Strong

The browns and Belgians are both somewhere between styles.

i'm entering 6. actually 5 but i have an imperial ipa that i'm entering as an american barleywine as well.

other than that it's oatmeal, dry, and imperial stout, and a weizenbock.

i think they're all pretty darn good, although the imperial stout and the weizenbock are the two i'm expecting to score best. the imperial ipa/barleywine is mcdole's pliny clone, to the letter, but the rest are pretty much original recipes. although jamil's book has inspired me to push my recipes in one direction or another.

Translation time:

what they say: "It's between styles"

what they mean: This beer is so good that no single style can contain it. I expect to be kicking ass and taking names in not one, but TWO countem, TWO categories with this one single beer.

what they say: "I'm just looking for feedback"

what they mean: I'm looking for glorious accolades on my score sheets and ponderously heavy metal hanging around my neck. The only feedback that matters with this one is the screech of the P.A. system in Cincy when I stroll up to the podium yet again. You ladies might as well keep your "entries" at home to feed your bud light drinking brother-in-law, or dog, or snails or whatever will drink it because you are wasting your time sending them to NHC.

Well, that's what plays on in my head anyway. Wait, did I say all that in my out-loud voice? crap....

No, what I mean is: "I've never brewed these before and I fucked 'em up so I'm hoping they'll fit somewhere."

I guess I should add that I'm just looking for feedback.
