Pollo,

How do i know what my "designated region" is?

I'm half way between Lodi and San Diego.

I did Northern California in 2008 and 2009. This is a major job and requires a seriously efficient and organized cellar staff and the best Judge Coordinator you can find. I hope you've done some other 700 beer comps. Otherwise you are so f__ked.

Tasty.

I'm the judge coordinator for the NW region this year. Wish me luck.

Bokonon-
Hope you can make it! And try to get as many of the guys in your class as you can get. We need everybody and I'll be sure to pair them up appropriately.

There was a "call for judges" email sent out last night to all the BJCP judges in the Region. Since you guys aren't in the system yet, you wouldn't have gotten it. (Kyle should have gotten it though).

Regardless, I'll still send it to you all. The guys studying for the exam are EXACTLY the novices we need to fill out the juge pool, and it's great experience for them when they go into the exam a few weeks later. [edit - msg sent]

For those reading this who are getting hyped up thinking "WTF" on the thought that novices will be judging their NHC 1st round beers, don't. It has always been the case. NHC couldn't possibly happen if only BJCP judges were allowed to judge. There simply aren't enough. We will ONLY pair them up with experienced judges. To me, that means they are ranked Certified (or very experienced Recognized ) or higher, and they are given instructions on how to ensure that the novices produce quality scoresheets.

HTH-

The map isn't up yet. I know that the AHA is changing around some of the regions because last year there were a lot of maxed out (700) entries in a lot of regions.

The official rules aren't up either.

The rules are still not published but the map is up and makes it clear that entrants may enter any region they wish:

http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/a ... 11_MAP.pdf

So I'll complete my thought from earlier. The BN as an NHC entering club has had a big bullseye on its back since the first round results came out last year. I think this policy change is:

1. Motivated at helping some other clubs (who were never shy about having an out of region superstar racking up points for them) compete with The BN.

2. Not good for the competition once you get past the Club of the Year politics.
