Brew Day

Wed Sep 26, 2007 3:53 am

Last Saturday a bunch of local homebrewers and the local "Elk River Mead Men" (mead group i'm in) gathered for a brew sessions and what a time, 50 some gallons of beer brewed up in assorted styles, and 70 gallons of mead made in assorted flavors ranging from chile pepper mead to wild raspberry. One of the guys that works at one of the local microbrews also did a stone brew, man is that fun. It was the first time i brewed on my new brew sculpture, however i was limited to only one burner do to not having the much needed needle valve for the other burner in time. Still did great though.
Watching (and brewing) all the shenanigans brew and the equipment we all use is quite pleasing. Ingenuity was abundant.
Local meathouse Brats, corn on the cob, burgers and chile peppers were all served up on the charcoal grill. Previously made homebrew and mead were on tap and consumed all night long, till wee hours in the morning until people started passsing out by the campfire. A few fine cigars were dispersed as well from the hosts private collection. And possibly the funniest part of the night was what i found out the next day, one of the passer-outters woke up in the middle of the night with wet feeling drawers, "oh no he thought- i pissed myself", wrong. Emptied his huggies in the night and had to burn his pants in the fire. Oh the hilarity.

Pics to follow as soon as i find where i put my camera and charge the battery back up.

That sounds like a good time. I wish we had a bigger homebrewing community up here in my neck of the woods. I usually just end up passing out at my kitchen table.
