I think there was something like "an Imperial version of a traditional style" tucked into the rules, I guess that was taken literally - even when there was already a style

by that 'logic' you could put in a Dopplebock and call it an Imperial version of a bock, or call an ESB an imperial version of an ordinary bitter, a Scottish 80 an imperial version of a Scottish 60 etc...

or a German Pilsner but make it black.

Tom is a BNer. And it was a Smoked Vienna Lager with Black peppercorn. Fing amazing beer.
