First Competition

Wed Aug 09, 2006 2:32 pm

So i'm in the process of entering my first competition (i wish i had my act together for SoCal, but i didn't...get over it), and i've got a question. The rules say to submit two bottles, but per all of the conversations on the past shows, don't they actually need three. That way there is one left over for the finals?

Any thoughts would be great.

3 bottles would be the best choice. If you only submit 2, you risk not going to the best of show table. Reason being is, Some catagory's have a lot of beers in them. When this happens many judges will split them up. and then The top beers from each flight go to a mini best of show before the final. The judges would end up using your 2nd bottle for the mini, Thus leaving you without a beer for the best of show.

It varies to the size of the competition, generally the rules for each competition is all you need follow. Our local club only needs two, the SoCal one needed three and Sam Adams Longshot is asking for 4 bottles and have another 3 in reserve for them. So it can vary depending on how big the contest.

Just stick to the rules. If they say two then send two. Extras will be drunk if they're good and tossed if they're not.

Don't waste postage and storage space unnecessarily.
