Southern Tier Mokah

Mon Jul 04, 2011 10:18 am

Appearance: Pitch black body with a minimal head in the brandy snifter. Head color was light brown.

Aroma: This was a fantastic smelling beer. Got a lot of dark chocolate and and hints of caramel malts. For the most part, it smelled like a mocha!

Taste: Bittersweet chocolate in the front. Mild bitterness in the middle and back end which was complimented with slight malty caramel taste. Finish had some alcohol present, but wasn't off putting.

Overall: Just a great imperial stout. I wish it had a little more coffee in the taste, but I maybe getting a little picky there...

Consider tracking down a bottle each of the Choklat and the Jav-ah and make your own Mokah blend! You can then bump up the coffee flavor as much as you want.
