11.2 oz brown, long necked bottle. 4.5% ABV. No freshness date seen. Satisfying pffftt when opened. Poured out a deep amber color, about like you’d find apple juice in the store. Much darker than any American cider I’ve seen so far. Musty aroma to it, along with a burnt yeast sort of smell. Straight slam only produced a slight hint of a head, but even that faded quickly. Sweet at first, then the malic acid kicks in and makes you pucker up. A little to tart for my liking.
Three words "cheap and nasty" they try to promote Magners as a Larger alternative over here, its not working really (lager is vile anyway, poser drink, give me a good ale any day). It's just a watered down cider, I would rather have an Old Rosie type cider cloudy and traditional but you can't really mas produce and I guess that is what Bulmers are all about.
Bulmers make some vile ciders and are just a stain on real cider.
Eeeeeeuughghhh.... Bulmers, not cool. I have to serve that on draft at work, as well as the pint bottles. It's one of my nation's great shames. I'd prefer to not be reminded of it.
umm I love it. Magner's on ice. Or black currant squash and strongbow. The liquor stores around here just started getting Bulmer's as well as Magner's. (same thing I understand) so now our cider selection is Strongbow, Magner's, Bulmer's, Gaymer's, and Blackthorne.
Too much of a good thing....is a very good thing!
