Oak Creek Brewery and Grill in Sedona Arizona

Spent some time in Tempe last week and while there we decided to do a day trip up to the Sedona Mountains. It was a blast! After the hike we hit up a brew pub on the way back. Oak Creek Brewery and Grill.

I have to say, I wasn't all that impressed with the place overall. The food was decent, but expensive. The beer, aside from a couple, the Hefe and Pale Ale, weren't that great. The waitress was kind of snotty and the 80's music playing over the radio kind of threw me off. It was a tourist trap that didn't really have an identity so it could identify with everyone I think.

Have any of you been there? What was your take on it?

I've got a little video I made about the day if you care to see it. Its pretty short.

Review of Oak Creek Brewery and Grill

Let me know what you think!

Thanks

Looks like you were at "the Grill", or the Tlaquepaque location. Yes, it's very touristy... Not surprised by your take of the atmosphere and service.

Their real brewery is actually up the hill off of 89A. The Nut Brown is my favorite regular beer, and is not supposed to be hoppy as you might have been led to believe. They made a damn good Saison seasonal last year. Orange Blossom is a Hefe that they contract brew for Papago Brewing, down here in Scottsdale. They have come a long way in the 8 yrs or so that I have been in AZ. Their beers might be hit or miss sometimes but occassionally they really knock it out of the park. Not deserving of your 2 out of 5, IMHO.

It has been a few years, but the downtown location is the touristy one, while the other location (the Brewery) is a little more danker, tatted, and more fun. Live music and a little beer garden.

I figured I would enjoy the brewery more so than the pub, but this place was on our way in and out of town so the group decided to do this one instead.

Don't get me wrong, there were a couple of beers that I enjoyed. I felt their Hefe, Pale Ale and Porter were solid choices. The Hefe was probably my favorite.

However, my rating is based upon more than just beer, but I respect the idea that I may be a little harsh.

Now that you mention the Saison, I heard that was on tap after I ordered my Porter and I was out of time and money to try another one. Now I wish I had!

I appreciate the feedback. There will be a couple more coming down the line later. Four Peaks was a highlight for sure!

Thanks again!
