What is your favorite holiday beer?

Tue Dec 08, 2009 6:26 pm

This is my first holiday season as a craft beer fanatic. I just picked up a 6 pack of Troegs Mad Elf Ale and am stoked to try it out. Anybody have any good suggestions for me to look out for?

Thanks in advance.

The Bad Elf series is always a great choice. Insanely Bad Elf, Criminally Bad Elf, Very Bad Elf... if you can get a few bottles, try one and age a couple for the years to come.

Holiday Spice from Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee is one of my favorites. Goose Island Christmas Ale is usually good though I haven't heard good feedback on this years bottled version. Draft is supposed to be great.

I've become a fan of the Delirium Noel... I had some last year on draft that was just really good. It might have had something to do with the fact that I was at a New Years Eve beer dinner, but it was good.

There are so many great ones. My girlfriend got me this book for christmas http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/0789317966/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=283155&s=books and has been trying to get me every beer in it ever since. Enjoy your first holiday season as a beer nut!

Thanks Crupp, that looks like a great resource. Maybe a little late for my Christmas list, but I'll hopefully get it in time to try out some more beers. I also had the Sierra Nevada Celebration on tap last weekend and really enjoyed that as well.

You should definitely try to find some Samichlaus. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/285/776

My absolute favorite holiday beer. Look for the oldest bottle you can find.

Great Lakes Christmas Ale, if you can get it. It's by far my favorite.
