12 oz. brown longneck bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a deep, dark brown, with red highlights. Not much head, but it did leave a slight lacing around the rim of the glass. Aromas are of expresso coffee, hops, and dark roasted malts. Actually tastes better than many stouts I've drank, because it actually has some hops bitterness to it. It is a nice balance of hops to malts, and the roastiness doesn't overwhelm you with that charcoal, burnt taste. Nice mouthfeel, not too thick, not too thin. Not chalky or ashy in the least. I think Avery did a wonderful job in brewing this stout.
