I just had this two days ago, and I was impressed. I really liked the quality of bitter imparted by the chocolate, it was smooth.

I will say the alcohol was a little forward, in the nose and on the front palate. I suppose it is hard for it not to be, considering the ABV. But it was a bit too forward for me. However, not enough so to detract from this being a delicious beer.

It was not as chew-y as I had expected it to be, but it had a good mouth feel and especially as it sat and got a little warmer the flavor of the chocolate really shined along with its bitterness. Very nice.

The 5 page essay written on the back on the bottle in size 2 font may have been a bit much, though... Maybe because I had already heard that story from the brewers, or maybe because I had not drank enough to appreciate beer verbiosity...

I just had this one, and I thought it was not black enough. Perhaps it could be blacker.
