jp is awesome. love la roja, calabaza de oro, maracaibo and bam (reg & noire). i've had the autumn fire and noel also but wasn't too impressed with either. never the less i saved a noel from 2 years ago. it's sitting next to my maracaibo from '06 (loved the first time i had it and when i finally found a second bottle i decided to cellar it).

Noel aged nicely. I cracked an 07 a few weeks ago.

Until saturday I'd never had a Jolly Pumpkin beer. I heard a lot about them, but never had a chance to try one. Then wandering aimlessly around Stone 13 trying to find a beer I hadn't tried, I stumble upon a booth that appeared to be Jolly Pumpkin. Could it be or did my eyes deceive me? My heart leapt and my feet did the happy brew shuffle...It was Jolly Pumpkin! But I only had 2 tickets left and there were 3 beers on tap. My mind swirled like a raging river trying to decide whichf 2 to try. After talking with the brewer, who to my amazement was there, he suggested to start with the Rojo. That beer floored me. A very unique subtle sour beer. Earthy and spicy and asy drinking and very refreshing. Very caramel body with a nice dry finish. Then I tried the Calabaza Oro which was a stonger paler beer kinda spicey with a nice tart finish. Both very impressive and when I mentioned to the brewer that I can't get Jolly Pumpkin in San Diego, he told me Stone just picked them up to distibute to San Diego. Beer Heaven just got a little better! Cheers to Jolly Pumpkin! Looking forward to trying them all...
Enjoy Great Beer!

Up until the other night I had only had La Roja which is a great beer. This week I have had a couple Bam Biere which I liked as well. This weekend I am going to stock up on anything from Jolly Pumpkin I can find that I haven't tried yet.

I know this is an ole thread, but I have yet to drink any beer from Jolly Pumpkin that wasn't one of my favorite ever beers. In fact, they have become my favorite brewery. Oro de Calabaza may just be my favorite beer of all time. I realize, of course, that I can't really ever choose 1 beer as my favorite, but this one joins the conversation for sure.
