DFH Punkin Ale

While not a favorite, this is the most drinkable pumpkin beer I've ever had. Very nice and not overdone with the spice.

I too am not a pumpkin freak but I found Jack's Pumpkin Spice Ale to be one of the better ones on the market. A-B does a pretty good job of covering up their base beer. DFH wasn't bad either but man there are a lot that are.

I am a fan of Pumpkin Ales and as such have tried many. I agree with your assessment. I think DFH's is the best on the market.

I disagree on Jack's Pumpkin Spice Ale, although I've only had it on draft, so maybe it's better from the bottle. I found it to be thin and lacking in much of anything in terms of flavor. It has been about a year since I had it, but I remember it being very bland.

And I'm not just saying that due to an anti-AB bias... when I drank the beer I didn't know it was AB.

I usually enjoy pumpkin ales this time of year and tend to buy a few bottles of anything I can get my hands on. This year I actually thought the pumpkin flavor in DFH's was just a little more than I care for.

I am enjoying Bluemoon's offering though.

I personally don't care much for Jack's, but my favorite thus far is Screaming Pumpkin Ale from Michigan Brewing Company. $37 a case this year...ouch! I haven't tried Blue Moon's yet. I'll be sure to grab a sixer and give it a shot.

I'm usually a fan of Pumpkin ales, but I had the DFH Punkin this past weekend and I just thought there was too much ginger in it compared to the other spices. I don't mind a "hint" of ginger, but that was the predominant spice... and for me, that's just too much.

I am drinking Brookly Brewery's Post Road Pumpkin right now, which is OK, but not as much Pumpkin as the DFH, and personally, if I am going to drink a pumpkin beer, I want to know there is pumpkin in there, not just think that maybe there is. On that note, I enjoy Southern Tier's Imperial PumKing, which my local store had a week ago but is now out of...
