Delirium Nocturnum

2003 Batch. Huge cappuccino colored head. Thick enough to spoon out of the glass. Funky Belgian smell to it when poured. Smelled like rotting apples, gym socks, also kind of horsey, like a lambic. Pours out a deep scarlet color, with plenty of fine bubbles rising from the bottom, like champagne. No lacing to speak of, solid complete head. Very warming as it goes down.Very aromatic. Spices, dried fruit, apples, woodsy, earthy aromas to it. No discernable hops notes to it. Plenty of caramel malt taste, and lots of 2 row grain-y tastes to it. High alcohol taste to it. Thin on the palate. Would go great with hot Italian sausage on the grill, with lots of onions. This is a good beer, but kind of strong tasting for my liking.
