Allagash Double Ale

Mon Jun 20, 2005 2:21 am

On tap at the Old Dominion 7th Annual Beer Festival, June 28, 2003. Poured out a clear, dark amber color, with a tight white head. Malts dominate the aroma catagory on this beer, with subtle hints of hops in the background. Very malty tasting as well, not much bitterness here from hops. More like a dunkle in my book. Very sweet, coating the tongue with a syrup like consistency also. Alcohol tastes prevalent as well. Finishes very sweet as well. I'm glad I tasted this beer at the festival, because it's too sweet for my liking, so I won't be buying this again.
