Brew Free or Die/Watermelon Wheat in Pennsylvania

Wed Jun 24, 2009 3:06 am

They finally arrived last Monday. The bottle shop already sold out last week and reordered for this past Monday. I picked up a six of each yesterday.

IPA: Mmmmm, grapefruity! Not the most exciting IPA I've ever had, but boy does it go down easy. Definitely achieved the "I could drink a bunch of these"
quotient.

Watermelon Wheat: Also very high on the easy drinking scale. Very well balanced beer without a heavy watermelon flavor.

If you like Watermelon Wheat, I would recommend Roy Pitz' Watermelon Lager. It is also a beer first with a hint of watermelon (they also use real fruit).
Not Recommended: Thomas Hooker Watermelon Ale (artificial flavor and color). Overwhelming fruit flavor in a pink beer.

I will definitely be stocking up on the 21A beers, especially if I can find them in cases at a distributor. They go down a little too easy to be regularly spending $9.50 a six-pack.

Nice job, Sully!

+1

I had both at the ACBF this weekend in Boston. Very drinkable beers.

I may have to make a trip over to the PA border to pick up a few cases. It's only about 2.5 hours to the state line. Now I just need to figure out where the closest distributor is...

I got my six-packs at Capone's in Norristown. I'm going to call Kunda Beverage in King of Prussia today to see if they're carrying cases (they have the best craft and foreign case selection that I've found outside of Philadelphia).

we just started getting this in oregon a few weeks ago. its awsome! I always thought it was kinda just a joke on the BN because its a fruit beer but damn its tasty :aaron . it's become my go to beer for brew days and climbing days, you can just drink em all day long and still function.
