I recently saw an old recipe from 1615(I think) in the Mosher book that used split peas in the mash. If anyone is interested I will post the recipe.

Back to the topic, I was at busch gardens and since I rode all the rides twice and it was free, I decided to do the "brewmaster's table" tasting. Going in, I was pretty sure they'd kick me out for my comments.

Anyways, I tried bud light, bud, bud select, Michelob amber bock, and bareknuckle stout.

If I had to pick one to drink, the amber bock and stout weren't too bad. Straight bud was absolutely horrible- grainy and astringent. Bud light, to my surprise, was better. That select stuff was decent but not much different than bud light. The stout was a lot better than people led me to believe. It's still an A-B stout, but at least it had color and flavor. People were bitching about how bitter it was. ya... okay.

Please note that my comments are relative to the style. I wouldn't buy this crap if it was the only beer on the planet.

My girlfriend had the energy drinks and fruit/spice-doctored michelob. Those were all disgusting! The best tasted like Jack Daniels coolers that had gone rancid. I think she liked the chocolate flavored amber bock.

A resturant by me called Old Chicago has a world beer tour. Basically, every time you try a different beer you get credit for it. When you've tried all the beers you get a prize for it. Well, they also have a mini-tour that has usually 10 beers in it to get a prize. Budweizer was one of the beers on the current mini-tour. Well, to keep a long story short, I had one last night. I had forgotten how horrible that stuff tastes. Even before I started brewing my own beer I never liked Budweizer.

I had really bad microbrewed ales that smelled and tasted like a can of corn. At least AB has its process down and if their beer has noticable DMS, then they want it to have that.

But I agree, BUD could be a much better beer if it would be an all barley beer.
