condensation inside kegerator

Just finished my kegerator project, will post pics soon.

I built it up from a 19.7 cubic foot chest freezer, used 2x10's for the collar and caulked all seems and edges. The lid closes on the collar and I have a perfect match between the lid's weather stripping and the 1" wide foam strip weather stripping in put on the rim of the collar. I sealed around the inside of the retaining nut where the shanks come through the collar. I think I've hunted out any air infiltration posibilities but will continue to look.

I am getting a decent amount of condensation on the walls of the freezer. Granted I'm doing a fair amount of opening/closing as I'm tinkering with it, but wasn't sure how much everyone else experiences and what would be considered to be 'normal'.

About the only remaining optionsI can thnk of are to put some 1" thick insurlation board material around the inside of the collar and to remove the now-unused interior lid plastic and light kit stuff and replace with insulation board and caulk the heck out of that.

Thoughts anyone before I go crazy?

I put a bucket of damp rid in the bottom of mine. You can buy it at walmart: http://www.damprid.com

Do you have any damp-rid or other moisture absorber in there?

Does a towel on the bottom under the kegs count? :)

No, I don't have anything in there now. Hadn't thought this would be as much of an issue. I figured I'd spill beer from time to time and have the ocassional sweaty keg or two when they were newly added.

Is tha calcium chloride approach common for large kegerators? Interesting idea!

Just learned the wonderful power of the SEARCH button (doh! stupid newbie!) - I see the answer DAMPRID has been offered successfully many times. Thanks for the repeat on this one, I'll go get a bucket tonight!

Todd you ignorant slut.

Actually, thanks for posting this... you reminded me that I need to get some DampRid.

A few weeks ago I spent a Sunday cleaning out a layer of mold and filth from my kegerator... that condensation will get you in the end if you don't keep it at bay...
