Free Refrigerator

I've been offered a used Hussmann Model # RR0721G41 display refrigerator for free... I went and looked at it and other than needing some heavy duty cleaning, it seems to be in decent physical condition. We plugged it in and ran it; it started cooling and then the compressor and fans shut off after a few minutes. It would restart by itself and then trip off again without really lowering the temperature that much.

It is free... but I'm afraid of getting it home and then finding out I can't use it. Anyone have any recommendations or experience?

sounds like the thermostat may be screwed up.

dont forget that the new fridges and freezers are more efficient and may be able to save more on the electricity bill. Also, in my search to get my keggerator up and running, I bought a chest freezer off kijiji and it didn't run. And it cost me an extra $20 to dump it cause of the compressor.

So beware of the old fridges and freezers... make sure their operational before making a purchase.
