OK. I'm to the point I hate bottling. What type of corny kegs am I looking for...I take it there are different ones out there. What are the pros and cons of each?

Thanks in advance

I just received three free kegs, and I'm new to it myself, but that makes me an expert, right?

Most of the difference are minor. Corny kegs, firestone kegs, etc... There may be people that fight over the benefits of ball lock vs pin lock, but they're basically the same. With a few wise choices in fittings, you can even set up your system for both styles.

It will mostly depend on what you can find. One of my three is really old, but it works. Ball locks seem to be more common.

The only con I've found with ball locks is that the gas in and beer out posts are ALMOST identical in size. Almost is the problem. You can mess things up if you're not careful. But, the posts are identified with different style nuts, notches, etc.

Good luck!

You wil find that ball locks account for about 90% of the kegs out there typically in use by homebrewers. Because of this it's easier to find brewing gadgets equipped with ball locks.

Also, ball lock (ie Pepsi) kegs are taller and skinnier, useful for trying to cram as many into a refrigerated space as possible....
