First Kegged Beer

Just filled my first corny of beer last night and I'm glowing like a pregnant prom queen. First time pushing out of carboy with CO2, it went great. A lot to consider the first time but I know it will get easier. Set pressure at 20 psi at 37 degrees and will drop down to 15 tonight and around 10 on Sat. night. Might try a pour then to see (Pale Ale). I seem to have around a 15 degree dif in temp from bottom to top inside keezer. Thats more than I thought I would have and did'nt install a fan inside. Been following Keelanfish's thread on this stuff but starting my own cause I'm sure I'll have some questions once I start to pour. :aaron

The most important thing in a draft beer set-up is in the glass orientation. ALWAYS keep the open part of the glass up. In order to drink it, you must put your lips on the lip of the glass. Slowly, begin to tip it and fill your mouth. Swallow, rinse and repeat if necessary!

Isn't carbonation for an apa somewhere between 2.2-2.7vol? I just kicked one about 2 months ago and carbonated it 14psi (set it & forget it way). If you are tring to speed carb try 30-40 psi with some rocking and let it sit overnight, drop the pressure to serving(12-15 psi depending on the length of line) and you will be set.

5', 3/16" beer lines to 4 1/4" SS shanks with 4 Perlicks in a 7 1/2" collar on a 7.2 cu' Frigidaire chest freezer and a Johnson controller. I can ferment with heat belt and cold crash on comp shelf until I get and fill a 4th keg. Used 1" thick rigid foil faced poly-styrene insulation, caulked with silicone and foil taped. 2" swivel castors on a 3/4" plywood base. Rockin!

Sounds exactly like mine! No casters, here, though. I am currently switching out my chest freezer for use as a ferm chamber. I scored a free frdge, so Im going to drill it and use that for dispensing.

My wife was thrilled the day it was delivered cause we don't have a dedicated food freezer and she thought that's what it was for. Silly woman. She was'nt amused when I told her but now she's starting to get over it cause it looks really nice. Just like the one the guy built in the BYO article last winter except I used external temp control.

Couldnt have been any easier!
I got my freezer for $139, though. It had a $40 rebate on it. I only have 2 creamers on it, though.
I forgot to mention, make sure you keep your lines clean. I just push pbw, water, then starsan through them. Works like a charm. I also break down my kegs every few batches, just to be sure there isnt any gunk getting it the posts and such. Keep star san near your faucets, too. After pouring, give the faucet a quick squirt. No fruit flies!
