Beer gun vs counter pressure filler

Sun Feb 27, 2011 4:54 pm

Riddle me this....which is better the beer gun or counter pressure filler? I love blichmann and the ease of the gun but aren't you technically lossing all of your carbonation since the bottle is not sealed?

No. It takes time for all the gas to come out of suspension. When you pour a beer the C02 begins to come out of suspension and bubble out - this doesn't happen all at once, else we'd all be drinking flat beer. Performed properly a fill from a beer gun will have plenty of carbonation. The colder the better! :D

yep the key is low pressure from the beer when bottling(just enough to get some foam to cap on foam) and cold beer bottles. I love my Beer gun!

+1 on the cold bottles. Foaming/Co2 release are minimized. I'll put mine in the freezer before bottling and put the bottle in one of those freezer mugs when filling.
Good Luck! :jnj
Oh yeah, I love my Beer Gun! :gun

I've come up with a cheap easy way for right now since, I had to fill for NHC. 6' tubing, picnic tap, #2 drilled bung and bottle filler. Filler fits perfectly in the picnic tap and bung slides right over the filler. Just insert fill, bleed pressure and cap on beer!!
