Storing sanitized bottles overnight in dishwasher?

A friend of mine is asking me this question and I wanted to get some opinions on it, as I have never done this. Due to work schedule and time, he wants to sanitize his bottles and stand them to drain on a clean dishwasher rack. Then, close it up until the next evening and take them out and bottle. Anyone ever done this, would they still be free of bacteria?

Should be fine, as long as his dishwasher was clean when stuff went in. That is probably better than if he were to do similar with stuff on a draining tree overnight.

Honesty, whose dishwasher is perfectly clean with no stains? Not mine at least. I wouldn't risk it unless he actually ran the bottles through a full dishwasher cycle (no detergent or jet dry) including the hot dry steam cycle to sanitize the bottles. I would feel more comfortable leaving them in the dishwasher overnight after that treatment.

I sanitize my dishwasher pegs by spraying down with Star san before putting my bottles on it, so I'm confident in the cleanliness of everything my bottles come in contact with. I'm not comfortable with the idea or running bottles through a cycle, I don't know what chunks are floating around inside the machine that might get blown up into a bottle and not rinsed out again.

When I bottle I fill a spray bottle with star san and spray each bottle right before I fill it. Then just dump the star san out of the bottle into an empty bucket. Don't fear the foam

Yeah, I don't fear the foam, I PBW soak, water jet, Star san from a bottle and put on sanitized pegs in the dishwasher. I prefer to have them all sanitized before I start bottling so that I know I have enough and don't run short. I'm assuming that the reason scotchpine is asking for his friend because the friend wants to have them ready to go on bottling day and be able to get cleaning and sanitizing done beforehand.

Yeah, that's the deal. It's his first ever batch and is pressed for time with work and packing to go out of town. Thanks all, for the responses!
