Picnic tap disaster.

I woke up this afternoon to find that my picnic tap had failed somehow and dumped four and a half gallons of my oktoberfest all over my fridge and brew room floor. (which is carpeted by the way :x ) I have just not gotten around to investing in a permanant tap for the fridge and always left my picnic tap hooked up for easy access. It looks like the tap blew vs slowly leaking as there are splatter marks on the side of the fridge. Anyone ever have one of these taps go bad on them before?

Take the cap off the top of the tap. use a large flat tip screwdriver or a rigid putty knife. Check to see that the casket that seals the cap isn't missing, damaged or has been squeezed out of shape. Take the tap trigger assembly apart too. See if the rubber stopper that seals the tap isn't out of place. I have had one of these stoppers not fit properly after cleaning and I slowly lost some beer. Luckily, I had checked my assemble a short time after hooking it up.It could have been a lot worse.

I recently had one that started to unscrew on the connect, so at the end of a long party it would leak beer if laying in the wrong position, I just had to tighten the connection and was fine. Not sure if you have the same problem.

Yeah I'm going one better and installing a stainless steel faucet in my fridge.

Ouch, I just hate it when a piece of equipment fail! But, it does make you a bit more vigilante of every other piece!
