I've heard there are "hand canners". I don't know the cost or availability.

anyone think putting homebrew in a can will be available soon?

A few folks I used to know out in Colorado did home canning in cans for many years. They used something similar to this. http://www.houseofcans.com/sealer-manua ... -l-en.html

I don't think these would be real useful for beer though. There would be problems with purging the air and the general problem of spilling during the process.

One issue that keeps even small brewers (hundreds of cases at a time) have issues canning because the typical blank can order is in the tens or hundreds of thousands; with a single pre-printed label. You can heat shrink onto a blank can to help and use a 10,000 blank order with multiple varieties of beer...but on the homebrew scale?
On Tap: Dark Mild (x2), Honey Hefe
Fermenting: A.Bastard Clone, Wee Heavy, S/70, Eng. Barleywine

We had one Nebraska craft brewer that had to give up canning due to the minimum order issue. His minimum order would have been 3 or 4 years of production.
