Jockey Box chiller recomendations

Which is better, 50' 5/16 SS coil or aluminum plate chiller?
The coil is cheaper, but I want quality.

Thanks

Go with the coils. They are more efficient (more surface area, more beer in the cold lines at one time) and the price is better. You will need more ice to cover the coils compared to the cold plate, but that is the only downside.

how do you plan to use it? in other words, how much action do you think the tap will get?
i built a two tap box with 50' stainless tubing. it gets the beer REALLY cold, but i dont want my beer that cold anyway. i tend to let the ice melt and only keep the coils about 50% submerged. if i had to do it again, i think i would go for the plate chiller. the plate allows you to have sufficient room in the cooler for bottle beers etc. if you plan on really pouring a lot of beer very frequently the coils are probably better.

Great thanks guys, I think I will go with the coils then. That the coils are cheaper is a nice bonus.
