Beer cases

Fri Apr 02, 2010 6:12 pm

Hi all,

My bottle collection has outgrown my case buying, and I no longer have proper boxes to store them all. Does anyone know where I could buy cardboard beer cases, preferably plain?

Thanks

when I bottled I only bottled in 22's and I'd always score empty 2 buck chuck cases at Trader Joe's.

Can't help with 12oz's, sorry

I keg almost all my stuff, but when I have bottles of beer to store I have a bunch of these cases. I find them at garage sales and antique stores. The 36 bottle case on the bottom is over 100 years old. They are hard to come by but do look cool sitting around.

I was lucky enough that a local liquor store here had the old school cardboard returnable bottle cases. Check around, you may be able to find some.

I too find myself in this fix as the perfectly good beer bottles are piled high! yet Im a bit crafty and if you decide to do this its not all that hard. I chose to build my own beer bottle cases. One case would hold 24 bottles of the regular 12 oz size. I could go into deep detail about it but the nutshell version is I used plywood for the outer case and hardbord for the dividers. I notched the dividers into the case allowing 1/4" clearance for the bottles in each opening They resemble the old coke a cola cases we grew up with. let me know if you need more info:))

I run into this problem every year when we start accepting entries for our comp. We've developed a good realtionship with a few of the local bottle shops. The gave us about 40 cases last year.

I guess we're just lucky here in Northern California but it seems like there's always some brewery re-branding their beer. (Thanks Drakes!) I just keep my ears open and sure enough, I get case boxes with inserts for my comps. Glass companies are also a source because they often inventory the case boxes for their customers.

These work great, you can find them on Ebay for about $8-10.00 before shipping.
Once in a while you can find a European case that is plastic. If you can find one of these, grab it.
Cheers.
