Bottle Labeling

I did a search on this first and came up with nothing. So I am going to post.

I have designed some labels for my beers. I know there are premade "personal" labels out there that have a glue backing on them that you moisten and stick on the bottle. I am looking for something similar but blank so I can print my own. Any Ideas?
Or
If I print on regular paper what kind of glue will stick it to glass bottle?

Of coarse I am looking for an economical solution, I do not want to pay $1 per labelor anything like that.

I just read in another thread, I forget which, about using milk brushed on the label for an adhesive. It sounds plausible, and easy to clean.

I have heard milk.... never tried it. Stinky? Back in the day when I had extra time on my hands and felt the desire to label my homebrew, I used regular paper (like 24# smooth white) and stuck in on with those glue sticks that kids use. As soon as you hit it with water, it slides right off.

I've found that avery mailing labels are the perfect size and wash off more easily than traditional labels do (so easier to reuse bottles). They will turn to gunk when soaked, so just be careful about clogging up your sink. Inkjet ink will run though, you need laser printer toner or something similarly waterproof. you want a 3.33 x 4" label. 5164 is one of them, but there are a couple different ones that are that size and differ based on the type of paper or the number of labels in a box. Comparable staples brand ones apparently wash off even easier.

You can then use the labels and mailings feature on microsoft word to print them out.

FYI. Windex is the best label remover available for all types of glue.

Interesting ...
The milk work quite well ... and no smell at all. I used a pastry brush applied it lightly tho the whole back side.
Label comes off easily. All in all the milk is a great solution.

Yeah, I've been preaching the gospel of milk for a while now.



I use regular paper. The only problem is that you want to use a decent printer otherwise the color will bleed when the milk hits the back.
