DIY - finding brass fittings

Mon Nov 02, 2009 3:56 pm

This is driving me nuts...

I am trying to assemble my own gas manifold system. I know the ones sold by beer shops have got to be over priced plus not exactly what I am trying to do.

Perfect example: I want this
http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/b ... valve.html

but male to female so I only need one check valve that screws into my regulator and then can accept a wye fitting to branch out 2 lines.

I have tried in vain to find anything from a plumbing supply store, etc. I would think McMasters would have this stuff but I can't make any sense of their catalog and their prices seem astronomical.

Are there any DIY guys out there who can direct me on how to find these small, what should be cheap, parts?

Thanks!

You have a local welding / gas shop? The place where I get my C02 tanks re-filled sells these fittings as well.

I was able to get all of the fittings I needed at Home Depot or Lowes. The flare fitting are standard, as are the pipe threads on the other side. Hit up one of the old guys roaming the aisles, and let them know that this is for beer making, and they will help you all day if needed.
If you need valves, I used the fireplace needle valves, and am really pleased with the control. I have three valve/burners on my manifold, and with the high pressure reg from More Beer, have no problems running all three at one time.
Good luck,
