Help with a Big Ass, Huge, Behemoth Compressed Gas Tank

Thanks to the graciousness of anotha BN brotha, I am now the proud owner of a big ass, huge, behemoth compressed gas tank....

The one problem - this tank was apparently used for helium.

It has a female valve on it - kinda like the ones used for beer gas. Now, I certainly don't need a big ass, huge, behemoth tank for beer gas.

1) Can the valve be changed out?
2) Can I switch the valve for the one on my 5lb tank (so I can use that for beergas, assuming the threads are the same)
3) Should I stop hitting the pipe.... nobody in their right mind would touch this tank....

It certainly would be nice to have a metric ass-ton of CO2 on hand. I probably would only have to fill this every 5 years...

you can get an adapter for the tank to make it able to receive your regulator. i got one after i ordered a nitrogen regulator and got a tank of beer gas and they were the same as my other tanks. http://www.beveragefactory.com/draftbeer/tanks/adapters/nitrogen_regulator_co2_tank_adapter.shtml

If you carbed with Helium, would everyone get all squeaky voiced, or would they just die? I mean, April's coming soon enough right?

I think Drew's on the right track. I would be afraid to change the valve, but that's just an non-mechanically inclined person talking. I can't even change my windshield wipers!

Take it to your local gas shop, they may trade you strait across for a CO2 tank. A tank's a tank to them. Otherwise you'll have to have it re-certified after you change the valve, which is cheep but they may raise an eyebrow when they figure out it's a helium tank.
