Securing CO2 tank in Sanyo 4912

Mon Aug 31, 2009 7:09 pm

My kegerator-in-progress has two taps and fits two kegs. I have just enough room in back on the ledge to rest my CO2 canister, and the kegs help hold it in place. I don't really want to build a little shelf for it, given that I'm not handy. I've read on line that some people use a bungee cord to secure the CO2 canister - but what would I bungee it to? I've also seen a frame/chain assembly from Williams Brewing, at http://www.williamsbrewing.com/5_LB_CO2 ... 92C148.cfm. But I don't want to drill into the back wall of the fridge to hold the frame against the back wall, because I don't want to rupture cooling lines inside. Any opinions? Or should I just not worry about it?

What about a couple of these with a bungee cord. http://solutions.3m.com/3MContentRetrie ... =ImageFile Just make sure it is clean and dry when you put these on. Oh by the way these are from the 3m command family

An alternative way of handling the CO2 is to simply leave the tank on the outside and run the gas line in through the drain hole at the back of the fridge.

I also came across this tutorial on converting the 4912 to a kegerator.

I use a cloth strap from a duffel bag. It's got clips on both ends that secure nicely to the plate at the back of the fridge. I'll get some pics when I get home, if you're interested.

I agree with Bug, take the fitting off and run the line through the drain plug.

Linux, I'm definitely interested in seeing how you attach that cloth strap. If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to see those photos.
