i have a few questions that might have been answered but i am not sure

i scored a corney key from my work for free, it was full and sitting outside for 2 weeks and i asked if i could have it and they said yes, good deal.

problem, it is full of a soda company's product, how can i safely vent it, i dont want to get covered with the stuff.

second, can i ferment the stuff, i mean its sugar right, the wife doesnt think its a good idea so naturally it more than likely is.

what do you guys think

There should be some sort of bleed off valve up top. Whether it's a "keyring" looking thing or a little "flapper" that you can pull up or flip up to relieve pressure.

Sure. Ferment it. It will probably taste horrible but that's just a guess. You don't have anything bitter to counteract it for one. Or, it could be "diet stuff." It's already carbonated so I'm not sure how yeast are going to react to that since they're producing CO2 as well.

I would put a towel over the op of it when you do bleed the pressure off.

If your lid doesn't have a bleed off valve on the lid, you can use a screwdriver and puch down the poppet valve of the IN or GAS post. Make sure it's the GAS post or do it outside and do it naked. And send photos. :unicornrainbow:

Don't ferment it.

Here is an alternative, less messy solution. Hook up a picnic tap and your CO2 and dispense it into the toilet. Also, if it is root beer, replace all the O-rings. You will never get the smell and taste out of those.

I like the way you think. She's probably right but I'll never admit it...and you shouldn't either. Choke down 5 gallons of fermented pepsi with a grin on your face the whole time
