Corny Dimensions

At the So Cal Homebrew Fest this weekend, I noticed that there were (at least) 2 sizes of corny kegs people were serving from. There was the standard 23" tall and 7" across ones and then there were some that looked to be 18"-19" tall and maybe 9" across.

I came across one in a pic I took this weekend. You can see it right behind the 2 1/2 corny on the right in this pic

I'm interested in getting my hands on a couple of these. Is there a standard name for them or some key phrase or something I could use to search for them?

Any help appreciated.

Matt

There are only two sizes of corny kegs.... Hummers, and Scotties. Get it right.

If that's a joke, I don't get it.

If you're serious, what's the difference?

I saw an ad on line a couple years ago for short ball lock cornys they were 22" tall if I remember correctly

I'm still listening up through the archives and am just at the christmas conical giveaway from December 2006. I guess it'll be a while before I learn what Hummers and Scotties are, but I get the feeling it's Doc related.

To get back on topic a bit, it seems the pin lock kegs are shorter than the ball lock ones (generally speaking). From what I've found on line ball lock kegs are 25" x 8.25" and pin lock kegs are 22" x 9"

I had this link saved where there were 22" tall ball lock kegs for sale

http://www.homebrewing.org/Short-22-5-G ... 0-796.html but it's dead.

anyone have any ideas about these short ball lock kegs?

Some people have changed the posts on the pin lock kegs. On some versions of the pin locks you can simply swap posts, on most you can't.

hmmm....this is becomming more effort than it's worth it seems.

If I see one for sale somewhere I'll jump on it, but otherwise it can't be that hard from ball lock to pin lock or vice versa.

I'll see if I can find a couple pin locks and go with those. I guess I'm more of a fan of girth than length.

Maybe someone should make ball lock posts that have pin lock threads?
