I know this topic has been covered thoroughly, but I want more input. I want an extra long line for belgians. My lines are 3/16 ID, the tap is 8 inches above the center of the keg, and the temp of the kegerator is 38F. I want a high volume, around 3.5. I've seen all the links, but my calculation leads to non sensical results. I used this page: http://hbd.org/clubs/franklin/public_ht ... lance.html
Using the table, I need 21.7 psi for 3.5 volumes at 38F, so:
(21.7-(0.66*0.5)-1)/2.7=7.54 feet
My beer lines are already six feet long and they balance pretty well around 12 psi. I don't know how many volumes I'm getting with my six foot lines, but I'm guessing somewhere around 2.0. It doesn't seem reasonable to me that the extra 1.5 feet of line would let me increase the pressure from 12 to 21.7 psi. so what length line should I use? also, is that psi correct? I've heard people talking about 15-20 foot lines at 30 psi for belgians.
