Should I have left the picnic line off while carbonating?

Wed Dec 17, 2008 2:06 pm

I kegged for the first time, and connected the picnic beverage line to the keg at the same time I hooked in the gas. The bev line has beer in it now.

Should I have left it off for the carbonation period? Or am I OK?

Thanks for the replies, everyone. And, no, I won't be sending my keg to anyone to dispose of. :D

I was worried, though, because no where in the literature that I've read did it mention when to hook that bev line up. I'm what you might refer to as a "paranoid brewer".
