Sweet craigslist score today!

I scored a Sanyo 4912 for $140 today on Craigslist. Now my corny keg can come out of the kitchen fridge and my wife can get off my ass (yes... it is really in there). Even though there are so many already, I will post a bunch of pictures of my build. I plan on doing a few modifications that others have not yet.

But I bet you want some beer porn already? Here yah go:

That was my first kegerator conversion until I upgraded to a chest freezer. It's like they had hombrewers in mind when they made it. You pop the plastic top off, flip it over, and there is a square in the perfect spot for drilling the hole for the tap!

So my buddy picked this up for me on his way home from work as I am still useless at lifting/driving while im recovering from surgery. While the dude told me it was the freezer-less model, when my buddy brought it to me I discovered it had a freezer. It is the SR-3660 which is a 3.6 cubic foot mini fridge. I texted the guy and he was all "ohh, I am so sorry... my buddy told me it was the 4910" blah blah blah. He was cool and offered to give me my money back and all that.

It has been 3 weeks and I have been searching craigslist every day for the 4910 or 4912. F-it. Tomorrow I am going to Best Buy and buying this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 9496059542

and doing this: http://gallery.mac.com/troy.whittaker#1 ... lack&sel=0

except I am removing the fridge light and wiring a fan to cool the tower to the lights power source and moving the thermostat.

Tried to buy used and save some money but, I am getting impatient and so is the old lady. F-it.

Actually... I am going to forgo the fan to cool my tower. I found a method that a few people used on "another brewing forum" that involves running your beverage lines up to the faucets through separate copper tubing and then they are insulated together. They leave a bit of copper tube hanging into the fridge. The science here involves copper being wonderful at radiating temperature and, thus, this keeps your beverage line within 1 degree of the fridge temperature. It also does not require a fan constantly running and this REDUCES MY CARBON FOOTPRINT (read... saves me a few bucks in electricity over the kegerators lifetime)

If you just drink all the time the lines will stay fairly cool...

Noremorse, how did that copper pipe trick work out for you? I'm going to convert a 4912 this spring and I'd rather not add a fan if I can avoid it. I could give a crap about my carbon footprint, if I could even figure out what that's supposed to be. I just don't want to fuck around with electricity, because I will die. And I'm cheap enough to not want to power a fan 24/7.
